What does it mean to say, "Worship does God's story?" It is this: Worship proclaims, enacts, and sings God's story. Worship is not a program. Nor is worship about me. Worship is a narrative. God's narrative of the world from its beginning to its end. How will the world know its own story unless we do that story in public worship?

    Re-Imagining...

The holidays are here and each year I always wonder how we did it. How on earth did you guys keep coming for the adventure that is THE SEARCH each and every week? In strange and curious ways, God seems to be moving among us in spiritual depth like I've never experienced. This year was a year of change for us and as we start out with 2010, we are in a REIMAGINING PHASE for The Search. I hope you will come along! This time of year people look back on the year, their lives...and attempt to dream what's next. Let's dream together!

Did you know we have a Search Advisory Team? This group meets about 3 times a year to assess, pray, discern and creatively spurn new ideas about The Search. Would you like to be a part of this? Let me know! Did you know that each and every week we spend a lot of time creating prayer stations and setting up our sacred space? We do! And we would love some help! Do you wanna get creative and design some stations? Let me know! Did you know that each week we endeavor to greet people with juice and snacks? We do! And we need friendly faces to help us engage with our worshippers! Wanna help? Let me know! As we reimagine The Search, I hope you, also, reimagine what your life looks like: a life of service devoted to our Creator in the way of Christ. Find ways to dig deeper and let us help you do so.

I'm so grateful this holiday season for you all. The journey of faith we are walking, running, stumbling together is incredible and affirming. Thanks for being such a joy in my life! Grace and peace and love and hope to you as you celebrate the Birth! Merry Christmas!

    Beginnings...

Advent is a time for new beginnings, as we celebrate with joy the beginning of the life of Christ. So goes with me as I search out yet another beginning in my life. As graduation from Brite Divinity has passed, ordination interviews continue, and I seek a call, I want to say thank you. These last two-plus years have been an incredible journey for me and my ministry, and I have grown and developed thanks in entirety to this worship community. I cannot truly express the gratitude I have for the many encouraging comments, warm hugs and handshakes, wonderful theological discussions, and extensive patience with me as I have struggled and grown. I honestly do not know where I would be without the caring compassion of The Search family. You truly are all a blessing in my life and in the lives of the entire staff.

As I go on my merry way, I want you to know that you have shaped and inspired me in all aspects of my life. There will always be a place in my heart for this family of faith and for this worship experience. My ministry has only just begun, and I know that what I have learned here will continue to benefit me for many years. I wish you all the best, and continue to pray for The Search and the incredible ministry, worship and love that it provides to such a beautiful community of Christ followers. Thank you for a blessed opportunity. May God bless you and keep you as you continue to seek the sacred in the years to come.
